The New Braunfels Texas area is known for the Comal Springs that supply the water for the Comal River that begins and ends in the New Braunfels City Limits. New Braunfels Texas is located in the Texas Hill Country between San Antonio and Austin. New Braunfels Texas was founded by German settlers in 1845, and the City Limits of New Braunfels has a gem called the Historic Gruene District. Historic Gruene District, or Gruene Texas is located on the Guadalupe River, and it includes Gruene Hall (Texas oldest dancehall), Grist Mill Restaurant, many shops, live music, wineries and lodging. The third weekend of each month in Gruene Texas is Gruene Market Days, a 2 day event on this weekend.

In New Braunfels you’ll find a growing economy that is open year round, so "Buy Local"! New Braunfels attractions include bed and breakfasts, Schlitterbahn, Landa Park with playground and miniature train, seasonal festivals (Wurstfest, and Wassailfest and others), shopping, delicious restaurants, wineries and live music (at the Brauntex Theater, Gruene Hall and River Road Icehouse). September of each year, New Braunfels enjoys the largest county fair in the State of Texas, the Comal County Fair with music, carnival, PRCA rodeo, live stock show, food, fun and live music. New Braunfels is always open and fun.

Use New Braunfels Texas as a hub for scenic drives and day trips to surrounding towns to Wimberley, San Marcos and Fredericksburg. New Braunfels Rivers are the Comal River (tubing and swimming) and the Guadalupe River (tubing, rafting, canoeing, fishing, and fly fishing in the fall and winter). Nearby lakes include Canyon Lake and Lake McQueeney. Canyon Lake is a man-made lake with boating, skiing, sailing, and fishing, and Canyon Lake is 12-15 miles from New Braunfels with Canyon Dam, great food, music, scenic views in the Texas Hill Country, wildlife, and Texas bluebonnet wildflowers when in season.
